Professional
Background

With over 20 years of leadership experience and as a scholar, strategist, and social justice advocate, Armand started the advisory and consulting service to help others advance workplace inclusion, responsible leadership, and systems-level transformation in South Africa and beyond. As an Associate Professor and Head of Social Impact at Stellenbosch Business School, Armand has been at the forefront of research and practice that bridges academia, business, and community. His work supports leaders and organisations to align their values with meaningful impact, embedding purpose into core strategy and fostering inclusive, future-oriented change.

With a deep understanding of the complex challenges faced by businesses and individuals in today’s society, we help clients align their values with their actions, creating meaningful and sustainable social change.

Thought Leadership

Armand’s work as a scholar-practitioner is grounded in a deep commitment to social justice, inclusion, and systems change. Through his research, he explores the intersections of leadership, disability, ethics, and organisational transformation centering the lived experiences of those often marginalised in mainstream narratives. He regularly contributes thought pieces and opinion editorials to platforms such as Mail & Guardian and Daily Maverick, using storytelling and critical insight to challenge dominant perspectives and advocate for more inclusive futures. Whether through peer-reviewed scholarship or public writing, he aims to spark dialogue, inform practice, and influence policy toward a more equitable society.

Putting Purpose Into Practice

Armand’s practice of social impact is grounded in both critical scholarship and lived experience, which was recently recognised through the Stellenbosch University Social Impact Award (Individual Category, 2024). As Head of Social Impact at Stellenbosch Business School, he focusses on bridging the divide between academia and real-world transformation working alongside communities, students, and institutional partners to address systemic inequality with empathy, resilience, and hope. Armand believes that the recognition is not only an honour but a reminder of the power of collective effort, sustained advocacy, and values-based leadership to reimagine more inclusive futures. From the Small Business Academy to broader equity-focused initiatives, his work seeks to build lasting partnerships that centre dignity, amplify unheard voices, and translate research into meaningful change.

Engaged Citizenship

In addition to the academic and consulting work, Armand has served in several leadership and governance roles within the non-profit sector. He was previously the Executive Director for the League of Friends of the Blind (LOFOB) and currently serves as Chairperson of the Instructional Leadership Institute of South Africa. He is also a Director at the Spirit Foundation, Two Oceans Marathon, and Trustee of the Tores Foundation, contributing to strategic oversight, social investment, and community development. These roles reflect his ongoing commitment to inclusive leadership, ethical governance, and social justice across sectors.
